About the SPD & Proposal Discussion category

Community members can initiate the governance process by creating a proposal using the SynFutures Proposal Draft (SPD) format. They must then submit the proposal on the SynFutures Forum under the Proposals section.

Irrespective of the subject and category of the proposal, members should use the default SPD format.

While additional detail is always welcome, an initial proposal must include the following:

  • Title: A short and concise title of the SPD
  • Summary: A high-level overview of the proposal’s intent, benefits, and impact on the SynFutures ecosystem.
  • Rationale: Detailed reasoning behind the proposal, emphasizing its necessity and potential for positive change.
  • Specification: Technical details, execution plans, and resources needed.

The SPD mandates the inclusion of these key elements to ensure the community clearly understands each proposal. This further helps them provide meaningful feedback and make informed voting decisions in the next phases.

Pros of this system:

Transparency: Everyone can participate in decision-making, and nothing is hidden.
Democracy: Decisions are made based on the majority opinion.
Innovation: New ideas are introduced by the community, improving the platform.
Accountability: The SynFutures team is accountable to the community.
Potential downsides:

Time-consuming: The decision-making process can be lengthy, as it requires discussion and voting.
Risk of incorrect decisions: If the community doesn’t have enough information, wrong decisions might be made.
Dominance of larger groups: Larger groups of users may be able to influence decisions.
Overall, this governance process empowers users to actively shape the future of the SynFutures platform.

“So, what’s great about this system? Well, it’s super transparent, meaning everyone gets a say. It’s like a democracy, where the majority rules. Plus, it’s always coming up with new ideas to make things better! The best part is that the team behind SynFutures is accountable to all of us.
But, like anything, there’s a downside. It can take a while to make decisions, and sometimes we might not have all the info we need. And let’s face it, bigger groups can sometimes sway the vote.
Still, the biggest win is that we, the users, get to have a real say in what happens next. It’s like we’re the bosses!”
